 Lorraine had spent hours in the library as a student. She had known from a young age that she wanted to become an Auror. It wasn’t going to be easy, but she was prepared. She studied as hard as any Ravenclaw would and then some. She participated in extracurricular
activities and made sure to socialize. Being an Auror wasn’t just about being smart or skilled, but it also meant knowing how a person thinks. Breaking down the psychology of a person could say so much about them. From it Lorraine might be able to understand how they think and therefore anticipate their next move.
It was too bad she couldn’t predict her close friend and colleague betraying them. Who would ever suspect their own? Lorraine was still bitter about it. She felt foolish for not having known. There must’ve been signs. How could she have missed them? There was not a day that went by that she didn’t beat herself over it.
Quietly putting back books to their proper places, the library was quiet… well, the library should always be quiet, but there were not as many students at the moment. Wait til the end of the school term and there wouldn’t be a single seat available with everyone cramming last minute.
Turning the corner, Lorraine’s gaze set upon a girl who looked as if she’d seen better days. A light smirk formed on her lips. How many times did she feel like giving up? Walking up to the girl, Lorraine stopped just before her and cleared her throat lightly. “I hope you’re not asleep,” she informed lightly. “Although pressing your forehead to the parchment won’t automatically transfer your thoughts into words either,” she offered a small grin, indicating she was only teasing. “Are you having difficulty with something?"

Lorraine still had nightmares that jarred her awake in the middle of the night. She could never really remember her dreams, only flashes and screams. Then again, she never tried hard to remember them anyway. Why would she? One of her closest friends and colleague had betrayed her team for a quick pay off and had died along the way. It was the darkest day of her life. Why would she ever make efforts to try and remember the details. She was reminded of it everyday. There was a scar on her back and the pain never really left her. Some days were easier than others.
Taking a quiet breath, she looked over at Harry and was surprised to see him. Suddenly feeling self-concious, she tried to offer a small smile. His joke was humorous, but it was hard to laugh. It didn’t help that he looked at her with such guilt. Lorraine didn’t blame Harry. How could she? It wasn’t his fault. She tried to recompose herself the best she could. The pain still prickled, but had dulled slightly.
Remaining seated, she turned more towards him. “It’s just going to take some time getting used to so many kids,” she replied back. “You’ve come to check in on your kids already?” Lorraine wouldn’t expect Harry to come out to Hogwarts just to see her. “How are things back at headquarters?” She asked, looking away. She tried asking the question without making things awkward. She was still curious about what happened back at the ministry with the aurors, but was it really her business anymore?

the good ol' slytherin vs. gryffindor. rhea probably wouldn't have had a problem with olivia when they first started school but i'm sure it grew over the years to where they constantly butt heads with each other. especially now since rhea is head girl. i love the idea of being the most unlikeliest of friends. rhea would probably give olivia a hard time whenever they crossed paths.

she isn't one who shies away from her duties as a head girl, or before when being a prefect. the library is one of her 'hideaways' from the chaos of the castle and where she could at least pretend she was someone else. it's possible that lorraine and rhea have had conversations with one another throughout the years, if it isn't silly, rhea would maybe see lorraine as that sister that she never knew that was possible.
& Olivia YAY! I love this idea! We should definitely throw Olivia and Rhea into a thread and cause some trouble. Maybe Olivia is out after hours or something and Rhea catches her? Or maybe Olivia is pulling a prank or something. LOL. How's something like that? RHEA M. LESTRANGE & Lorraine This is Lorraine's first year as the librarian though I love where you're going with this. I'd love to develop that relationship with Rhea. Let's totally thread. The school year had started and Lorraine was still trying to settle in. Even though she had attended Hogwarts, that had been years ago. Not much had changed, but there was still some getting used to again. It was bittersweet to be honest. Lorraine had some awesome memories at Hogwarts. She had a lot of fun as a student, but she wasn’t that same girl anymore. A lot had changed since then and not necessarily for the better. She figured not everyone could get their happily ever after, but she never thought it would be her… and not so soon. The idea of coming back to Hogwarts to teach wasn’t such a bad one, but she figured she’d be in her old age… and she’d be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts or something…
Even so, the past couldn’t be changed, nor could her present. Waving her wand, she added a couple more books to the pile as it floated in front of her. Kids these days… Haven’t they heard of putting things back? Walking through the rows of shelves, Lorraine flicked her wand this way and that way, directing the books to their rightful places. It was quiet since it was dinner time. Lorraine didn’t feel much for being around others. She often took her meal in her private quarters.
Finally, putting the last of the books away, Lorraine made it back towards the desk. She grabbed a chair and sat. She let out a breath as pain radiated through her lower back and into her legs. She had pushed herself too far and had been on her feet too long. She was still getting used to being limited by her injuries. She tried not to let the pain show in her face, but it was hard not to. She was just glad no one was around to see her. Leaning forward, she squeezed her eyes shut and tried to regulate her breathing. She tried not to think about the pain, but her head felt dizzy. She might have to check in with the nurse.
She didn’t know how much time had passed, but when she heard footsteps, she forced herself to push past the pain and stand. What did this person want?

Gotcha! Perhaps less nagging her to come back and more trying to get her to at least come out of her funk and still be friendly with her ex-coworkers. Harry would certainly get why she would not want to be at the Ministry, he'd probably have made the same choice. He'd really want her to get back in touch with people she's been ducking though, he's learned from his own experiences that shutting yourself off from people is never good. I hear you, the weather is all weird with the season change so it's making my sinuses kill. I love it! Harry is awesome and smart. She definitely should get back in touch with her friends, but she will be resistant. lol. Lorraine can be stubborn, but not to the point where she might annoy Harry. Harry would be good for Lorraine. Would you like to thread? Maybe that's what it is. It was cold and rainy yesterday and today, it's 81°. Ugh. I hate this drastic change in weather. |

HARRY J. POTTER && LORRAINE T. THATCHER Yeah! If Lorraine would have been a hard-worker then Harry would have definitely been friendly. I assume he would feel a little responsible for what happened to her, being in a position of power in the department, and he would have likely had begged her to stay afterwards being all, "Look you're going to bounce back from this Lorraine", etc. When she was resolute on going I could certainly seeing him helping her land the job at Hogwarts, him having some clout there from his infrequent popins for his son's Quidditch matches, and doing some DADA guest lecturing occasionally. I like to think he checks up on her every once in a while and tries to noodle her in to returning on these encounters. I love the idea that Harry might feel responsible and that he'd check up on her. However, Lorraine desperately wants to be an auror again, but she is physically unable to be an auror anymore. Her injuries had left her too badly injured and though she looks well, she can't exert the same amount of energy or strength that is needed. That is why she is depressed. She worked for a year in hopes that the Healers would let her go back to being an auror. That's why a low key job as a librarian was a good position. She could've gotten a desk job at the ministry, but it would be too depressing being so close and not being able to do anything about it. I hope that made sense. My head feels so cloudy atm and I have no idea why. >.< |

So, I know Thaddeus isn’t on your list, but I also know he’s your character and I want to play with him! So, Lorraine is the librarian and your smexy man is the Potions master. I feel like they’d get along, but Lorraine would be a bit resistant at first. I can see this going several ways, but maybe we can just throw them at each other for now and see where it goes.

So, until recently, Lorraine was a blossoming auror until the ambush her team encountered. She was betrayed by one of her own and injured so badly that she was unable to return as an auror. After a year of physical therapy and working to come back, she ended up finding a job at Hogwarts as the librarian, a low key job, but keeps her busy. She still struggles and for the most part, is unhappy. That’s just a little back story. I figured since they are both aurors, that Harry and Lorraine would have known each other. Lorraine was a very hard worker and skilled witch. I feel they would be on friendly terms. I could even see Lorraine looking up to Harry and seeking him out for his guidance on more than one occasion. With the accident, she would’ve pulled back from those people around her. Perhaps Harry might have noticed and taken some interest. Maybe he even helped with her getting the job at Hogwarts. What do you say? There are a few possibilities and I’m up for pretty much anything. Even other ideas, if you’ve got any.

These two being staff members of Hogwarts, I feel like they would know each other. This is Lorraine’s first year at Hogwarts as a librarian. I imagine they’d get along. Lorraine is still suffering through bouts of depression since her accident. She is a former Auror that was injured on the job and so that’s why she’s at Hogwarts now. She needed a job that wouldn’t put too much strain on her physically.

I feel since both these ladies worked at the Ministry, that they’d know each other. I could see Lorraine having respect for Irabella for what she’s doing. Lorraine wouldn’t feel any negativity towards her because she’s a vampire, in fact, she’d probably think more highly of her. Perhaps they could be friends. Maybe one that she still keeps in contact with. Lorraine has kind of distanced herself from most of her friends since the accident, but still keeps in touch with a few.

Lorraine Thatcher grew up in London, but her father was actually from the states. He attended Ilvermorny. He traveled a great deal to British Ministry of Magic. It was where he met his future wife. Thomas and Elaine dated on and off for several years. When his living situation became more permanent, he proposed to Elaine, and they were married within a few months. It wasn’t long after that Elaine became pregnant. [break] [break]
Lor is an only child. She was a bright young girl and never went wanting. She grew up in the bustling city of London. From a young age, her parents exposed her to both the magical and the muggle world. They didn’t believe in the purity of blood even though she was a pureblood. [break] [break]
There was great hopes for Lor and it was no surprise when she got her letter to start Hogwarts. It was a surprise though when she was put into Slytherin. Regardless, her parents were proud of their daughter. [break] [break]
At school, Lor was the one who got along with everyone. She didn’t care what a person’s status was or which house they were in. If they got along, they got along. She even played on the Quidditch team for the last two years as a beater. She was smart and worked very hard.[break] [break]
To sum it up, she pretty much had the perfect life. But nothing golden lasts.[break] [break]
From a young age, she knew she wanted to become an Auror. Since both her parents worked for the Ministry, she had met a few. She had always admired their bravery and their purpose and Lorraine wanted to be the same. She knew how hard she’d have to work if she wanted to see her goal a reality.[break] [break]
After graduating Hogwarts, she started her training. It was tough, but Lor had set her heart to it and there was nothing that would stop her. She trained harder, worked harder, stayed longer, and took on any job that was handed to her. Her dream was slowly becoming reality and it was no wonder when she started moving up. She was a strong and reliable solider. [break] [break]
Unfortunately, an accident would change everything. While on a mission in the Middle East, they were ambushed. Lorraine was severely injured, nearly dying. All Lor remembered was walking into what was supposedly a secured room when her group was under fire. It had turned out, one of their own had betrayed them. Someone that was a close friend. He had also been double crossed and was killed that night. [break] [break]
Lorraine woke up in the hospital. She was bedridden for months before she was able to start physical therapy. She pushed herself hard to regain strength, but in the end… Lorraine wasn’t strong enough. A spell had hit her lower back and though she could walk, she would never gain full strength in her legs. For a long time, she needed support to walk. Over the years, she has been able to gain some strength to stand and walk, but not run. [break] [break]
Lorraine would never be the same again. With her dreams dashed, she was now unemployed and disabled. A friend suggested she work at Hogwarts as a librarian. She knew that place like the back of her hand. In the end, she took the job (this year being her first), but the once bubbly girl is now ridden with regret and anger. [break] [break]
