[attr="class","GGcontainer1temp1"] [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]CORA [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]2ND SEPT [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]2005 [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]SLYTHERIN [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]PANSEXUAL [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] SCOTLAND | [attr="class","GGcontainer2temp1"][break][break] [attr="class","GGcontenttemp1"] Let's just jump straight into this thing![break][break] There’s not a lot that Cora’s father could ever do wrong in her eyes. She’s an absolute daddy’s girl and always has been. She was the first born of four and before she could even turn two she had a new sibling. Emilia spent time with a new born and Cora spent time with her father. He studied a lot but always had time for his family. Cora’s fondest memories from her childhood were of her playing with her parents, in particular her dad.[break][break] Life was what Cora would call easy. Sure she had her tantrums but she was a little Princess. She liked attention and she was lucky because she had siblings to play with and two parents that loved her, that loved all of them. It was easy, life was so simple, there’s not a lot to tell.[break][break] Cora’s happiest memory was a July summer’s day, playing in the back garden with her family. Her sister was on a swing being pushed by their mother, the grass had been freshly mown and she was rolling about, laughing with her brothers and dad. Freshly mown grass is one of the things she smells when she’s near Amortentia. [break][break] In 2016 Cora’s parents broke up, got divorced. Cora was devastated and heart broken and had no idea what life was going to deal them. She thought of all the things they did as a family and she realised that her earlier memories, the ones from when she was younger, were brighter, there were more of them and less from more recently. Cora realised they’d all kind of drifted apart as a family, she was reading more, writing more, looking forward to her time at Hogwarts that she was due to start that very year. She knew that even though her parents were divorcing she would actually be luckier than most Hogwarts students. She was going to have access to her dad all year round, he would be her Potions Professor.[break][break] After Cora’s Hogwarts letter came she went shopping with both her parents. Despite their divorce they both took her and she had a great day with them, to the point she hoped they’d get back together but it wasn’t meant to be. She got all her bits and pieces, a barn owl she named Cambria and her wand. She went into Ollivander’s and, with tradition, the wand chose the witch. Aspen suited Cora well. It had a liking for her strong-mind, her determination and her ability to do well in Charms. The trifector for an aspen wooded wand. Cora’s core is Dragon Heartstring and she loves her wand, all 13 inches of it. It was described to her as “fairly-bendy” though she had no idea what that meant. It was wood. Was wood even bendy? She of course gave her wand a bit of a flex but stopped in fear of snapping the thing. She loved her owl and her wand both equally.[break][break] Cora’s first year of Hogwarts was great. She established herself well in Slytherin house and thanks to her surname people knew just who exactly she was related to on the staff. Her first year of Hogwarts also taught her a lot about blood purity. Sure she’d known she was pureblooded but her upbringing had never really focused much on what that had meant. She learnt all about Voldemort, about how her blood purity could actually make her a victim at times. She learnt that there were blood purists that thought they were better than everyone else and sadly some believed Cora to be part of that group. She could have an air of being better than others at times but that wasn’t because of her blood, that was because she was a Princess, she believed she was better than others, that she was smarter. She always thought herself smarter than her siblings, she loved to read and write and she felt better about herself than other seemed to feel about themselves. She never really wavered in her own perception of herself. Unlike the majority of people Cora actually liked everything about herself and that made her not liable to a lot of people.[break][break] Cora’s second year saw her lose some friends and make some sort of new ones, older ones. Cora was bitter towards those that ditched her all summer but once she was back at school she just ignored them. She grew as a person and found she had a liking for fun. Late one night as she was sneaking to the library for a book she heard a few boys laughing and ‘shh’ing one another. Cora was curious and followed them. She ended up at the room of requirements and by the end of the night and the end of a party, Cora found she had several older, new friends all fifth years and above.[break][break] Parties were fun. She was the youngest of a group of people. She never drank, never felt pressured and a lot of the time took control of a room. She had confidence to the point that she was often thought of as annoying by a lot of people. She knew people in all sorts of years but had a crush on one in particular. He was smart, a Ravenclaw and completely handsome. Jasper, a muggleborn. Cora knew a few of the other girls in her year had a crush on this one particular guy but she was determined to get him, to date him. Cora realised then that she had a competitive streak, while she always thought she was smarter than most she had never really had a need to be competitive. She had no interest in quidditch and she naturally earns points from Professor’s in lessons so being competitive was never an issue, until now.[break][break] Cora wasn’t an idiot and knew she was too young being in her second year for a fifth year. It was a big age gap at that age but she knew if she waited a little while then if he was interested, they’d be a couple. By the time her fourth year came around she approached him and asked him out. She was forward and direct as always. He of course rejected her based on age. He was so kind about it but Cora was not dismayed. He was a seventh year and she was a fourth year, it was just wrong but she was an older fourth year. Literally. The majority of her year were 14, turning 15 during the school year. Her birthday was 2nd of September and he, with an August birthday, had only just turned 17. It was a two year age gap, it was more like a fifth year and a seventh year and so she wore him down on his objection and he agreed to one date. One.[break][break] The date had been spectacularly awful. They took a small basket of food out and went for a walk. They hoped they’d find somewhere to eat, perhaps down by the edge of the lake but things went … wrong! Horribly wrong. Between the down pour of rain the second they reached the lake to Cora slipping and landing on her arse she thought the date was a disaster. They abandoned the basket of food and ran for cover under a clump of nearby tress. Cora was horrified, her pride took a hell of a hit. She’d made sure she was perfect before the date and here she was looking as though she’d drowned, mud all over the backs of her legs and her hair fallen out of its hold while sticking to her face. Her cheeks were burning red with embarrassment and humiliation of all degrees. [break][break] The rain showed no signs of easing off and the familiar low rumble of thunder alerted them to the storm they were out in. Jasper talked her into running to the castle and took her hand. The date was a disaster up until that very point. [break][break] They ran. They stopped at the castle and Cora pulled open the door. They went in, dripping wet and were spotted by a crowd of students making their way to lunch. They were no longer holding hands but rumours certainly spread like wild fire.[break][break] Cora avoided Jasper for a while for so many reasons. From her dad finding out that she went on a date with a seventh year to how humiliating the whole thing had been. Thankfully there had been the saving grace of him taking her hand, it was the only highlight. She felt humiliated and didn’t know what he would say if he saw her again. [break][break] Cora stopped being so social. Her grades dipped a little because she’d stopped spending time with the older students. She’d spent time hanging out with them but also doing work alongside them. She picked up on a lot spending time with her friends. She learnt work beyond her school year, she had help when she needed it in her school work from people that had done it all before. Cora had been social, she’d been outgoing and she’d been certain, now she was not. Now she was introverted.[break][break] This hardly went unnoticed by her dad, they had a chat. She didn’t tell him about her date though she got the impression he certainly knew. Cora kept everything to herself, told her dad she’d just had a slight falling out with her friends and that she was having trouble with transfiguration but that she was trying to focus on studying. It was partially true but she was depressed over everything, from having been so social to barely speaking a word any more. [break][break] Cora’s chat with her dad did her good. She picked up her studies again and got back on track. She spent time with her older friends again but avoided Jasper. No one really made any mention of anything and just carried on being her friends. They helped her catch up on the work she’d asked to re-do and she felt better. She got back to her old self pretty quick.[break][break] The worst date in history was actually not as bad as Cora remembered. The bad parts all stuck out vividly in her memory, Jasper however remembered the fun parts, the blush of her cheeks, the smiles and laughter she had but she didn’t know any of it because she’d avoided him.[break][break] Apparently he had a new girlfriend and Cora was of course jealous. Anytime he was near she acted as hard as she could not to notice him. It was the hardest time for her but she pushed on through. Jasper and Rosa seemed to make a nice couple.[break][break] Just after Christmas Cora heard rumours Rosa had split up with Jasper. She tried not to play into it but she was certainly curious. she wanted to know if maybe she could try a date with Jasper again but the thought of being so humiliated agin put her off.[break][break] By the time Valentine’s day came around Jasper managed to say a few words to her. She’d not seen him approaching and things actually didn’t seem as awkward as she’d thought it would be. He told a funny story about what Mike did in Transfiguration, she laughed and he had to move on to his lesson but she was pleased about the interaction.[break][break] Petrichor became another smell of Cora’s amotentia. The smell that rises from the Earth when rain hits dry soil. It was a terrible date but after a not terrible interaction with Jasper she remembered the fun, she learnt that humiliation could maybe be a good thing. Not everything could be perfect she supposed.[break][break] By the time May rolled around Jasper asked Cora for another date, a second date and Cora felt as though this was some kind of joke. She took a deep breath and agreed anyway. This time they spent a day at Hogsmeade. It was a much better day. Cora quite liked it. Jasper got a butterbeer moustache and butterbeer became another of her amortentia smells.[break][break] Cora kept her relationship with Jasper a secret from as many as she could. She didn’t want her dad finding out about them but come summer she spent a lot of time at his and going out. Jasper was amazing and Cora couldn't remember being so happy.[break][break] Jasper was graduated and Cora moved into her sixth year. She kept in contact with Jasper over owls and visits in Hogsmeade. Obviously her parents knew by now and neither had really mentioned much to her and she definitely wasn't going to offer up information willingly.[break][break] Now she's in her seventh year. Her birthday at the beginning of the school year give her one day of being seventeen like her class mates and then the next being her birthday. At least her birthday fell on a Saturday this year so she doesn't have to have any lessons. She's focused on her NEWT's and has decided she wants to try and become an Auror when she leaves Hogwarts. She's still with Jasper but shh, don't tell her that he's got a special ring. Sadly things are not going to go to plan, but that's yet to happen, it's what her fate has in stall for her. Her life is going smoothly, she's happy and there's no way that can be allowed to stay the same. It's time to introduce heartache, anger, snow and alcohol.[break][break] Random Cora Trivia:[break][break] Likes -[break] The colour yellow[break] Happiness, her own and seeing it in other people[break] Neatness, she can be a bit of a neat freak[break] Potions, it makes her feel more connected to her father[break] Freshly cut grass, it reminds her of the happiest days of her childhood[break] The smell of the Earth when rain hits[break] Hogsmeade weekends[break] Reading and writing when it's not school related[break] Getting better grades than others[break] Getting noticed, Cora really likes quite a lot of attention though she's not always demanding of it[break] Transfiguration, it's a fun and creative subject, Potions have an emotional connection, Charms she's naturally good at but Transfiguration is her favourite for the subject matter[break] Judging people, it's a guilty pleasure and usually she has an opinion on everyone and sometimes she doesn't do well at keeping the emotions he thoughts provoke to herself.[break][break] Dislikes -[break] Mess and disorganisation, possibly because of the home she grew up in but her mother always kept a nice home, if it wasn't tidy and clean then chaos would have just reigned, four children made a heck of a mess[break] People judging her wrongly, though they're also giving her attention, talking about her so it's a bit 50/50 Separated family, as of now it's not real causing too many drama's for her. She sees her dad all school year and her mum through the summer and Christmas. Christmas is a little difficult but she thinks she got through it quite well, almost easy but it still sucks on a lot of other levels[break] Pink, it's bleh.[break] Astronomy, Cora likes a little mystery to her night sky, she doesn't want to look up and map it all out with names, she just likes to keep some things simple, especially the night sky[break] She's a bit of a snob when it comes to knowledge, she knows there are stupid people out there but come on! Learn a thing or two[break] |
