Post by ALISTAIR J. DOLOHOV on Sept 4, 2016 15:20:29 GMT -6
From the moment classes began on the second of September, the pressure was on. Some students pretended that there was nothing to worry about: it was as if they were staring at a fully-sized mountain troll in the face, and insisting that it wasn't a hindrance as it smashed through castle with its colossal club. Others did worry - they really worried. They demanded to know how much reading their friends had done for a particular project so they could make a comparison; were usually seen with blood-shot eyes and smelt of coffee and neglect. Alistair acknowledged the seriousness of his seventh year, yes; but he wasn't going to succumb to the pressure. He wanted to sleep, needed to eat, and had other obligations and responsibilities that he was very adamant on adhering to.
Like the fact that he was Head Boy.
Speaking of which, Alistair raised his eyes to meet the clock that was mounted to the wall above the bookcases. Apart from this clock, it was very difficult to tell what time of day it was in the library. Hours could have been minutes, the afternoon could be racing through to evening - the sparse windows inside the chamber were made of frosted, lattice glass panes and can only be seen if one were to venture through the maze of bookcases. When sitting at the desk, time stood still. Only the clock told you how late or early it was. Actually, he was quite surprised to see that it was nearing curfew and he was one of the very few students still inside of there.
Sure enough, the Librarian began to announce the library's closure, so Alistair collected his belongings together - took out the books he needed and placed everything in his leather case. The corridors were preparing for the evening time: gas lamps were subdued to a dusky, burnt orange glow and curtains swung themselves over their railings, covering the windows. He followed the motion of this all the way from the library to the dungeons, where he dropped off his case inside the common room.
As it was a Monday, it was his turn to patrol the lower floors' corridors. So he set out from the Slytherin common room once more; briefly meeting his gaze in the reflection of a mirror. Robes on straight - hair stuck back - not a single scuff on his wing-tipped loafers. Clearly satisfied, the boy inside the mirror gave a dark smile; as if he was stupid to assume anything about his appearance could be wrong.
Now five minutes to curfew, Alistair ascended the staircase which connected the dungeons to the ground floor, and strolled through to the entrance hall. There, half-shrouded in shadows, was the distinct figure of somebody who clearly was not a ghost of a Professor. "So you'll be heading back to your common room now, I expect?" He boomed, folding his arms over his chest smugly. It was within his best interests that they were freaked by the suddenness of his voice. | You and I will be the ones holding the crown in the end

The steam billowed over the platform like a cascade, momentarily blurring everything from view. It was still the same platform that he had embarked on six years ago, and yet it seemed to shrink in length and width every year he came back there. Both son and Mother had the same expression about their face: a sort of lofty repulsion to the amount of smoke interrupting their farewell, and probably corrupting their well-pressed, elf-laundered clothes with a stench. Sometimes one would look at a family and find it troublesome to match their genetics; but with Alistair Dolohov and his Mother: they were painstakingly related.
She was a lighter shade of blonde, but her nose curled upward in the same way that his did: it was slender, her nose, but quite pointy. It complimented her large, blue eyes that were slightly too large for her face and mouth - which was small. But she was the sort of person who suited her imperfections: they were imperfections that were striking, not generic, and she wore quite a lot of make-up. High heels. Long, red talons for nails.
They dug into Alistair's shoulder as she gripped him, pulling him to the departing embrace. His brothers followed suit, each receiving a goodbye from their Mother. Somehow, her perfectly curled up-style didn't fracture even an inch and she didn't smile: it was her philosophy that women should act like they were constantly in mourning, to fight away wrinkles.
On boarding the train, the brothers split away with a few, unenthusiastic notes of acknowledgement. They each had their own places to be, and the thought of having to listen to people discuss Quidditch for the next six hours was undeniably nauseating. The middle brother was more into that sort of stuff. So, Alistair, rolling his luggage down the corridor and projecting an air of confidence (or was it arrogance?) in his stride, sought out the front carriages - where he would be meeting with the Head Girl and prefects.
When arriving at Hogsmeade Station some time later, Alistair thought the meeting had gone fairly well. Clearly not everyone wanted to be there, but he ignored their notes of disinterest: if they felt their time was being wasted, they were probably going to waste his time further down the line. Being Head Boy had its first repercussions, as he was expected to chaperone students into the carriages - ensure it was done in an orderly, sensible manner. That sort of thing.
By the time he reached the castle, he felt worn out. The walk through entrance hall, to the great hall was something of a fizz in front of his eyes. As soon as he took a seat at the Slytherin table, he released an exasperated sigh: this had all been a lot less glamorous than he had first anticipated (but at least his hair was still slicked back and neat). He wouldn't usually do this at a dining table (the feast hadn't arrived yet; so he counted it as a mere desk), but Alistair lent his elbow on its surface. His thumb skimmed over his lips.
He blinked, slowly, hazily, until his eyes rested on Evie Warrington.
They had classes together and he had nothing but warm thoughts towards her, but whether they were friends or not remained to be seen. She looked good with her hair in a long braid, he thought. Well-presented.
"I'm a little disappointed that you weren't made Head Girl, Evie," He told her, with something of a derisive smile tugging at the corners of his lips, "But I suppose having two Slytherins would be seen unfair. Unless you have any indiscretions that I should know about..." He was teasing her.

ALISTAIR DOLOHOV 17 | heterosexual | head boy | snob ABOUT Alistair's uncle was the infamous Death Eater, Antonin Dolohov. While the family are very reserved about speaking about such things (and treat it like a taboo that remains unspoken), they are a Pureblood family who stayed very isolated; very contained within their own kind (other Purebloods). They are extremely rich, from old money and new, and the Dolohov children were all brought up to be decent, law-abiding, well-mannered and well-spoken individuals. Bad behaviour was not tolerated. If any such thing occurred, the boy was treated as part of the wall until they redeemed themselves.
The eldest of the Dolohov children is ambitious, incredibly conceited and haughty; and tends to look down his nose at the lower classes of society. He hates trouble makers, poor manners and bad appearances: so if your clothes are grubby or shabby, or you let your hair grow messy - he's going to turn his nose up at you. A lover of all things expensive and driven by the desire of success in his career; he's one of those who wants to be at the top and enjoys having authority over others. FRIENDS Those who he is most friendly with are likely to be Slytherin students, or just those who come from similar backgrounds as he does. I see him with a group of friends who probably spend most of their time speaking ill of others, and perhaps bullying them. Alistair doesn't 'bully' people himself (hello, Head Boy) but tends to 'turn away' when he witnesses his friends doing it. Alistair treats his friends with a good amount of respect, although he is always keen to point out their flaws (that's just him, so his friends will take that with a pinch of salt, or know how to deal with it). There will be a good amount of snide comments between he and his friends, but it's all in the way of endearment - as opposed to hostility. ENEMIES Which brings us onto this category: the hateships. I personally love these, so don't be shy in suggesting some juicy plot angles! So yeah - from what you've already read, you know what he is like as a person. So, probably, there will be a few who don't like that. He doesn't hit it off well with the school 'rebels', despises sloppiness and is quick to condescend and tease you. He has a relatively calm temperament, but you wouldn't want to get him on a bad day. He won't leave you alone, and insist on pointing out all your flaws. LOVERS Yes - well - I suppose he may have had some relationships. I like the thought of a friend he has had since first-year, a sort of on and off again girlfriend who he occasionally is intimate with. He thinks he can get what he wants from girls, and often treats them as though they are merely there for his amusement. That being said, he likes to spoil them (mainly because he CAN with all that money he has). But, I think he could feel more for someone. Fall in love. The types he goes for, typically, are those from similar backgrounds - but exploring an 'opposite' romplot would be awesome. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Suggested PB: Austin Butler[break] Flexiblity: I'd prefer it was Austin, but open to other ideas! Please tell me your suggestion first.[break] Age: 16[break] Year: 6th[break] House: Slytherin[break][break]
The middle child, we'll call him Austin for now, is probably the most charismatic of all the Dolohov boys. Fiercely competitive but a particularly talented flyer (and Quidditch player): he often teases Alistair of his fear of heights, and played pranks on both of his brothers when they were little. He's probably grown out of the 'rebellion' now, as all the Dolohovs are expected to be properly dressed, properly behaved and present themselves well.[break][break]
But, if you like, perhaps he is still a big trouble maker, and likes to cause trouble for Alistair (he being Head Boy and all). That would be pretty darn funny and make for some interesting threading![break][break]
Please read Alistair's bio/app (link in my mini profile), as there are some things about the family in there - just so you get a feel of where he comes from. I see Austin as the most charming, and probably the most energetic - but remember, he's in Slytherin house. So don't make him too Gryffindor-y. He might be a bit of a dirty player, or perhaps a bit of a sore loser. Or maybe he's manipulative like Alistair? The key thing with Austin is that he is a quidditch player, is a sixth-year slytherin (aged sixteen) and used to be the one who got told off the most when they were little.[break][break]
The Dolohovs are not outwardly or obviously anti-muggleborn/muggle, but probably keep these views under hat if they have them. Alistair sort of does. You can decide their opinion on such.

Suggested PB: Kodi Smit-McPhee[break] Flexiblity: Very flexible, tell me your other PB ideas first![break] Age: 15[break] Year: 5th[break] House: Slytherin[break][break]
The youngest Dolohov boy, we'll call him Kodi for now. I see Kodi as probably the quietest Dolohov boy, but apart from that his personality and interests are very open. He can be skilled academically, be a Quidditch player, be ambitious and a stickler for rules like Alistair, etc. I'd quite like it if Kodi and Alistair had a strong relationship though. They get along, they are on a similar wavelength. Kodi is probably more of a snob like Alistair.[break][break]
Maybe he's fifth year prefect? Or not, it doesn't matter. I see him as a very interesting guy. Just quiet, stand offish, kind of cold towards people. That sort of thing?[break][break]
Anyway, that's the suggestion for Kodi. To get more of a feel of the kind of family he comes from, I invite you to give Alistair's app/bio a read (link in my mini profile). There's just a little about what is expected of the Dolohov children. They are not outwardly or obviously anti-muggleborn/muggle, but probably keep these views under hat if they have them. Alistair sort of does. You can decide their opinion on such.

If anything, those of Pureblood families who formally had ties with Death Eaters were more segregated from the rest of the Wizarding World than ever before. First it had been their choice: they were blinded by the old world doctrines and idealism that had gone on for centuries, encouraged by You-Know-Who, and thought themselves as the only ones worthy of weilding magic. Now that He had been defeated and all remnants swept into a lifetime imprisonment at Azkaban Fortress, who really paid the fallout? The Pureblood boys and girls who were born into these family names. Names that were known to be associated with Death Eaters, with murderers, with torturers and psychotics.[break][break]
The rest of the Wizarding World was wary of them. Will the children, grandchildren; nieces and nephews of these infamous names pose the same threat? It was an idea particularly convincing of families such as the Dolohovs; who were still groomed and educated and brought up in a gated community. Even though the Dolohov children hadn't been exposed to much emphasis of Pureblood superiority, they grew up surrounded by those of other Pureblood families - those who remained wealthy - those whom perhaps wouldn't judge past indiscretions.[break][break]
Alistair was the eldest of the three Dolohov boys, each born a year or so apart. They grew accustomed to their luxurious surroundings, learnt to scrutinise the differences between certain materials of clothing, upholstery, furnishings and possessions. Alistair has elocution lessons from the age of six, because he wasn't pronouncing his words properly. They were expected to be respectful of their parents, as well as play good hosts to the other families that visited their estate. Manners and politeness was drilled into them; but aspects of fairness and modesty were not.[break][break]
When it was time for Alistair to go to Hogwarts, he was treated with an anticipated amount of hostility from peers. It didn't exactly help that he was quick to undermine others wherever the chance, was conceited in how he looked and how he presented himself; and was always playing up to impress the teachers. But one could be impressed that he had his priorities straight from the word 'go'. He was ambitious, realised the importance of education and took it upon himself to score higher than others. Although he isn't the top student (the Ravenclaws often hold those seats), it can be said that he has a good work ethic and drive.[break][break]
Where he is probably the most academically talented amongst the Dolohov siblings, he is not so gifted with the knack of flying. In fact, Alistair has a severe phobia of heights; which is probably why you won't see him sitting near the window when he is taking lessons in the upper parts of the castle. Occasionally his younger brothers tend to tease him about this, but he often is a 'fight fire with fire' sort of person, often picking out their flaws and laying them bare. However, that's not to say that he is an impulsive, firy sort of person: on the contrary, he usually deals with things in a calm, somewhat callous manner. Sneering is more his thing. Sneering and condescending others' abilities, appearances and lifestyle choices.[break][break]
Alistair is what you might call debonair: he is well-presented, clean and has his hair fixed in the right place. No stupid hair styles, no over-grown birds nests that some people say is their own hair. He is particularly critical when it comes to others' looks. He prefers people who look after themselves, who walk and hold themselves properly; are well-spoken and call their parents 'Mother' and 'Father', not 'Mum' and 'Dad'.[break][break]
Due to his opposition of time-wasters, tardiness, nairdowells and troublemakers; Alistair was made prefect in his fifth year. It is a position that he, indeed, enjoys; but a power that he doesn't abuse. It could be seen that he favours his own friends and house above others, yes, but he has grasped some aspect of peace-keeping when it comes to these duties.[break][break]
Now in his final year at Hogwarts, Alistair was pleased to receive the title of Head Boy. He is, of course, too arrogant to feel as though the Headmaster was mistaken. Although he didn't feel it was a necessary title to have, he felt as though it could have certain perks here and there. One of them being that his organisation skills had been recognised; that he could easily act as an overseer to the rest of the school Prefects and be trusted with certain, intricate things.[break][break]
But the stress of the seventh year may get to Alistair. It might break away at his cool demeanour, have him snapping - gripping his hair - forgetting meals and schedules. Perhaps this year he will learn the true essence of pressure.
