[attr="class","GGcontainer1temp1"] [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]N/A [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]APRIL 26 [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]GRADUATE [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]SHOP OWNER [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]HETERO [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] KENT | [attr="class","GGcontainer2temp1"][break][break] [attr="class","GGcontenttemp1"] The Avery family are related to the Warrington (Nathaniel is her brother), Urquhart (Edith is her sister) and Higgs (Dorianna is her sister-in-law) families.[break][break] Eupheme Warrington was the first of three children: Nathaniel came second and lastly, Edith. The children were born during a great turning point in history, otherwise known as the First Wizarding War; where You-Know-Who established his ranks of loyal followers and inadvertently met his downfall to the Potters' baby. Despite Pureblood families like the Warringtons being under no cause of threat, her parents wasted no time in mourning an influential leader that adhered to their ideals. He was an extremist, a fascist, as far as they were concerned. So, even though they didn't go attending the numerous street parties in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade; they were with the rest of the Wizarding nation when it came to celebrating his downfall.[break][break] They could relax: breathe. They were not a family who believed in the demise of others; even if they were muggles or muggle-borns. No one else would be hurt. No one else would be forced to side with him.[break][break] The return of Voldemort many years later was the cause of sickening fear within their household. Eupheme, who had graduated from Hogwarts at this point and was working in the Daily Prophet offices, remembers the time quite clearly. One of the Death Eaters had infiltrated the press and took control of the media; ensuring his position by manner of the Imperius Curse to spread propaganda of anti-muggle benefits to their nation. The man was charismatic; even though she herself was not controlled magically, she found him difficult to resist. She complied through fear, just as everyone did.[break][break] When Voldemort was finally defeated by the Chosen One and spirits were high once more, witches and wizards were more inclined to turn over a new leaf. They took drastic changes in their lives: leaving jobs, getting married, having children. Now that the world was safe again, they could finally be released from the feeling of captivity. Eupheme married her Hogwarts sweetheart at the age of twenty-three, Agrius Avery (by approval of her parents as well, of course) and she left the Daily Prophet to pursue a different career path.[break][break] It was her dream to work for herself. It may be, since feeling the threat of working for less-than-savoury individuals, that she preferred the thought of being her own boss. It was probably the most esteemed, independent move that Eupheme had ever made. As a girl she was always compliant - obliging - wanting to please her parents and everybody around her. Being a disappointment is something that categorically effects her, so she prefers to keep to the ways and the views of those she loves and respects; rather than opening her mind to the opinions of outsiders.[break][break] But buying the property in Hogsmeade - that really was a bold move.[break][break] Diagon Alley had suffered much since the Death Eaters practically controlled and surrounding area. Many retailers were forced to move, to abandon their establishments; some were even tortured, were killed. As much as it was terrible to think one person's misfortune was Eupheme's fortune: many of the buildings in Diagon Alley were abandoned or up for new management. One of those places was Madam Primpernelle's Beautifying Potions, which she had visited quite regularly beforehand.[break][break] The woman had fled during the war and never returned. The building was mostly in tact: a few renovations had to be made, as well as organising all the legal paperwork about ownership of the property. It took some time, two years in fact, to have the place up and running under a new name: her name.[break][break] Madam avery's beauty parlor was the sign at the top of the door. Being a very nimble potion maker, Eupheme also bought the rights to some of Primpernelle's recipies, meaning she could sell the same potions in her shop. She also made products of her own design, mostly vanity potions, that witches of young and old would be interested in buying. Of course, it took a while to get the place up on its feet; but she got there - with the aid of Ministry advisers and her husband, who she always tended to turn to during times where a sharper mind was needed.[break][break] Then there was the birth of their first son, Timaeus Avery, which brought another strain on her priorities. With enough hired hands to take care of the shop, she managed quite well. It helped that Timaeus was a good child; independent from the word go, but fiercely loyal to his parents and the family name. A few years afterwards, they had their second son - Jovian - who was a little more to handle. Particularly when the other children arrived: Horatio a couple of years later and finally, her only daughter - Emylda. The four of them made the Avery family complete, and Eupheme couldn't have been happier.[break][break] She believed herself to be a good Mother, who always did the best she could. She wanted the best for her children and showered them lavishly; believing that most of the Avery fortune should be expended upon them. They should never be made to feel as though they were not privileged: because they were. Tutors taught them before they attended Hogwarts, with an extended emphasis on family history and the attitudes of Purism. They were the elite: they should act like young men and women of the Avery name.[break][break] But spoiling children is never a sign of 'good' parenting. Eupheme is rather negligent in that way.[break][break] Her overbearing loyalty to her husband could be seen as mere submission. His opinions are immediately her opinions, without question. Even if he were to do something which her previous mindset abhorred; she would follow and support him; never hesitating. Dark magic. Law-breaking. Anything. She would switch her mind to feeling it was 'for the best'. Because of that, Eupheme is incredibly easy to influence and manipulate.[break][break] Flirtatious by nature and probably the woman all the men's wives despise; Eupheme enjoys the feeling of being wanted. That is something that she never shook off, even if she is married - loyally - to her husband. A rather annoyingly giddy girl in a woman's body sometimes, it's no wonder if her children ever lose their respect for her. She can be pushy - unkind - impatient. But remains very grounded. Perhaps she is smarter than what she lets on most of the time. |
